چکیده
This is a review of 20 cases of ameloblastomas diagnosed and treated at the Dental Facu ltv, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. The clinical features, histological features and treatment methods are presented. Two basic clinical types namely the conventional (solid/multicystic) and unicystic ameloblastomas showed different recurrence rates. Discrepancies between the recurrent rates in this study for conventional ameloblastoma and for unicystic ameloblastoma and those of other reports are discussed. A brief discussion on the treatment modalities used is also presented.

Management of Plexiform Ameloblastoma in a 12 year old female : A Case Report
Ameloblastoma is a true neoplasm of odontogenic origin. Ameloblastoma is responsible for 1% of all the oral and maxillomandibular cysts and tumors. It is odontogenic in origin and benign in nature but it has a high percentage of local recurrence rate and possible malignant development when treated inadequately. We report a case of plexiform ameloblastoma presenting in a 11-year-old female. The ...
متن کاملTreatment Algorithm for Ameloblastoma
Ameloblastoma is the second most common benign odontogenic tumour (Shafer et al. 2006) which constitutes 1-3% of all cysts and tumours of jaw, with locally aggressive behaviour, high recurrence rate, and a malignant potential (Chaine et al. 2009). Various treatment algorithms for ameloblastoma have been reported; however, a universally accepted approach remains unsettled and controversial (Chai...
متن کاملGranular Cell Ameloblastoma- a Case Report
Ameloblastoma is an epithelial odontogenic tumour of the jaw and exhibits diverse microscopic patterns which occurs either singly or in combination with other patterns. Granular cells can occur in various odontogenic and non-odontogenic tumours. Granular cell ameloblastoma is a rare variant of ameloblastoma as making up 1 to 5% of all ameloblastomas that histopathologically has numerous large g...
متن کاملPerineural infiltration of the inferior alveolar nerve in mandibular ameloblastomas.
Our aim was to evaluate the histological association of mandibular solid and multicystic ameloblastoma with the inferior alveolar nerve, both in situ and in segments of the nerve that had been removed separately, to assess the feasibility of preserving the nerve during resection of mandibular ameloblastomas. In this prospective histological examination of 13 resected hemimandibulectomy specimen...
متن کاملCASE REPORT Management of Large Mandibular Ameloblastoma - A Case Report
Ameloblastoma is a benign epithelial odontogenic tumour but is often aggressive and destructive, with capacity to attain great size, erode bone and invade adjacent structures. They are the commonest neoplasms affecting jaws, with a high rate of recurrence if not removed adequately. Its incidence, combined with its clinical behaviour, makes ameloblastoma the most significant odontogenic neoplasm...
